Heavyweights HDFC, HDFC Bank, Reliance and ICICI Bank contributed the most to the gains on the Sensex.
Domestic stock markets rose for a third straight day on Friday, tracking firm global cues, heavy foreign fund inflow and strengthening rupee.
The SP BSE Sensex surged as much as 363.28 points to touch 36,170.57, while the Nifty50 barometer of the National Stock Exchange climbed 107.7 points to 10,887.50.
The gains on Dalal Street were led by financial services, banking, pharma and auto stocks.
In the last two sessions, Sensex has gained 336 points while Nifty has surged 115 points.
