On December 30, 2020, thegovernment hadextended the deadline to file theincome tax return (ITR) for individuals by 10 days.
Earlier, the last date was December 31, 2020.
In order to provide relief to taxpayers amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the government extended the last date for filing ITR's for the third time.
The firstdeadline wasJuly 31, 2002, which was then extended to November 30, 2020, and then to December 31, 2020.

Additionally, thedate for filing GST annual return for 2019-20 fiscal has been extended by two months, i.e., tillFebruary 28, 2021.Visit the income tax department's portalOn the portal (www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in) for filing returns online,register yourself using your Permanent Account Number (PAN).
Your PAN will be your user ID.
Ifalready registered yourself,click on 'Log in here'on the websiteLoginClick on the e-file optionor on the "Income Tax Return" link.
Select the correct assessment year, ITR form number, the filing type as 'original/revised return', the submission mode as 'prepare and submit online', then click on continue.Fill all details, compute the taxRead the instructionsand fill in all the mandatory details in the form.
Calculate the final tax payable and then proceed.Preview theformAfter calculating the tax, confirm all the tabs of the ITR form.
Select the correctverification option in the 'taxes paid and verification' tab.
Click on 'preview and submit'Verify ITRVerify returns using the Electronic Verification Code (EVC) or Aadhaar OTP or digital signature certificate.Submit the income tax returnEnter the EVC or the OTP received on your mobile number within one minute.
