Coal India aims to reach 670 million tonnes production target by end of current financial yearNew Delhi: Maharatna company Coal India Limited (CIL) has said that it is trying to touch the 670 million tonnes production target in the current fiscal.Almost all subsidiaries of CILare ahead in their respective coal productionnumbers compared to the corresponding period last year, the company said in a statement.CIL chairman Pramod Agrawal referred to the "sustained efforts and inspired performance" of the company's subsidiaries and has written to them "to end 2021-22 on a sound note scaling even more highs".The fiscal 2021-22 has turned out to be a high-performance year for Coal India with a flurry of previous records bettered.
The state-owned coal miner chalked out yet another high in total coal supplies at 608.15 million tonnesas of March 4, the statement added further.CIL moved past the previous highest coal production of 608.14 million tonnesachieved in 2018-19, nearly a month before the current fiscal draws to a close.The company had also crossed the 575 million tonnestotal coal dispatch of 2020-21 on February 16 itself.
Production ending 2019-20 was around 580 million tonnes."CIL's current offtake is averaging a little over 2 million tonnesper day and is expected to go up higher as the month progresses.
We are hopeful of reaching 670 milliontonnes if the demand holds," the company said.
