ATMs in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana went dry.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) then asked banks with surplus cash to help other banks facing shortage of funds.
