Share markets on Thursday: The bloodbath on bourses was triggered by continued slide in the rupee.
Domestic stock markets closed sharply lower on Thursday, as caution prevailed ahead of the outcome of the meeting of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) due Friday.
The SP BSE Sensex slumped 806.47 points or 2.24 per cent to end at 35,169.16.
The Nifty50 index of the NSE tanked 259 points or 2.39 per cent to settle at 10,599.25.
Amid broad-based selling witnessed across sectors, Reliance Industries and oil marketers dragged the indices lower.
The rupee hitting a fresh all-time low of 73.81 also dampened sentiments.
