Auto index top sectoral gainer on BSE; Ashok Leyland leads the pack

NEW DELHI: The auto index emerged as the top gainer among the sectoral indices on BSE on Tuesday.The BSE Auto index finished Tuesday's trade
1.73 per cent up at 24,295.Ashok Leyland (up 5.14 per cent) remained the top gainer in the auto index, followed by Tata Motors (up 3.78 per
cent), Motherson Sumi Systems (up 3.49 per cent) and Bajaj Auto (up 3.36 per cent).Bosch (up 2.83 per cent), Eicher Motors (up 1.61 per
cent), Maruti Suzuki India (up 1.56 per cent) and MRF (up 1.18 per cent) clocked up decent gains.Exide Industries (up 0.77 per cent),
Mahindra Mahindra (up 0.50 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (up 0.41 per cent), TVS Motor Company (up 0.20 per cent) and Cummins India (up 0.09 per
cent) also settled in the green.Meanwhile, Bharat Forge (down 2.22 per cent) cracked over 2 per cent and remained the lone loser in the auto
index.Equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty snapped five-day losing streak on Tuesday on gains led by metal, auto and pharma stocks amid mixed
global cues.However, concerns over rising global oil prices and precarious rupee against the US dollar kept market sentiment restricted.The
Sensex closed the day 0.10 per cent up at 34,651, while the Nifty finished at 10,537, up by 20 points or 0.19 per cent.In the Sensex kitty
19 stocks closed the day in the green and 12 in the red, whereas in the Nifty pack, 31 remained in the green, 18 in the red and 1 unchanged
