KARACHI: Pakistan first environmental-friendly food festival is being organized in Karachi from April 05 to 07 in order to discourage
single-use pfinalics and promote sustainable food consumption.The WWF-Pakistan and BrandLogics have partnered to organise the country first
environmental-friendly food festival in the city
The festival, ReFest, aims to reduce food waste and raise awareness about eating food in a responsible way as well as adopting sustainable
practices in daily lives such as reduced use of single-use pfinalics
The unique concept behind this event is to revisit the idea of organizing food festivals, reduce food wastage, recycle what we can and reuse
In an effort to make zero waste to landfills, a number of steps shall be taken at the venue
Only eco-friendly cutlery shall be available during the festival and styrofoam cups and plates shall much be allowed while single use
pfinalic containers and straws shall be discouraged
However, if any food stall uses them they shall be gathered for recycling
WWF-Pakistan shall also encourage people to use paper plates and cups as well as aluminum plates and packaging
Moreover, tickets used during the event shall be made from recycled paper
To reduce carbon emissions, carpooling is encouraged and tree plantations shall be carried out after the festival
As part of the eco-friendly festival, ReFest teams shall incentivise consumers to gather bottles at the venue
Further, all waste generated during the event shall be properly gathered and segregated for recycling
The festival shall also have a recycled art exhibition area
Finally, all surplus food much sold at the end of each day at the festival shall be gathered by Robin Hood Army and distributed to less
privileged people in the city.This three-day event shall be open for general public at Beach View Park, Clifton from Friday, 5 April to
