NEW DELHI: Emerging among the top gainers, shares of Punj Lloyd (up 15.48 per cent) jumped over 15 per cent in morning trade on
Thursday.
The infrastructure firm on Wednesday reported a standalone profit of Rs 944 crore for the quarter ended March 2018.
The company
had posted a loss of Rs 181.58 crore for the same period last year
Total income from operations in the January-March quarter increased to Rs 1,133 crore, over Rs 1,027 crore in the corresponding period of
BGR Energy (up 12.76 per cent), Technocraft Industries (up 12.43 per cent) and Orient Cement (up 11.39 per cent) surged up to 12 per
cent.
Reliance Communications (up 9.43 per cent), Munjal Showa (up 9.02 per cent), Banco Products (up 7.17 per cent), Reliance Home Finance
(up 6.62 per cent) and Reliance Naval and Engineering (up 6.07 per cent) also found themselves among the top gainers.
Equity benchmarks
registered a strong opening but pared gains owing to losses in heavyweights such as ICICI Bank, Tata Consultancy Services, State Bank of
India and Sun Pharma.
The NSE Nifty index was trading 16 points up at 10,630, while the BSE Sensex was up 51 points at 34,957 around 10:05
am.
In the Nifty index, 24 stocks were trading with gains, while 26 were suffering losses.
Barring bank, IT and financial services, all
sectors were in the red on NSE.
HDFC Bank, Coal India, ONGC and Tech Mahindra were leading the pack of Nifty gainers.
