NEW DELHI: Most bank stocks including IndusInd Bank (down 2.25 per cent), Federal Bank (down 2.06 per cent) and RBL Bank (down 1.80 per
cent) settled in the negative zone on Friday.
The Nifty Bank index closed Friday's session 0.98 per cent down at 26,693.
HDFC Bank (down
1.52 per cent), Axis Bank (down 1.35 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank (down 1.24 per cent) and YES Bank (down 1.03 per cent) suffered losses
of over 1 per cent.
State Bank of India (down 0.95 per cent), Punjab National Bank (down 0.54 per cent) and IDFC Bank (down 0.12 per cent)
also landed among the losers.
ICICI Bank (up 1.05 per cent) and Bank of Baroda (up 0.11 per cent) remained the only two stocks in the index
that could manage to close the day with gains.
Indian equity benchmarks landed in the negative terrain on Friday as losses in bank,
financial and FMCG counters outpaced gains in auto and telecom stocks.
The Sensex closed 95 points, or 0.27 per cent, down at 35,227, with
11 stocks advancing and 20 declining.
The Nifty finished the day 40 points, or 0.37 per cent, down at 10,696, with 15 stocks in the green
One stock remained unchanged in the index.
Bajaj Finserv, ONGC, Eicher Motors, Tata Steel, GAIL (India) and Mahindra Mahindra stood among
the top losers in the Nifty index.
