Stock market update: BSE Realty top sectoral loser; HDIL plunges nearly 7%

NEW DELHI: The BSE Realty index finished Monday's trade as the top loser among the sectoral indices. The index settled 72 points, or 3.25
per cent, down at 2139 on Monday, with all components in the red. Housing Development Infrastructure (HDIL) remained the top loser in the
index, falling 6.70 per cent. It was followed by Indiabulls Real Estate that plunged 4.58 per cent. Shares of Phoenix Mills (down 4.49 per
cent), Prestige Estates Projects (down 4.13 per cent) and DLF (down 3.79 per cent) also appeared among the top losers of the index. Unitech
(down 3.39 per cent), Godrej Properties (down 2.38 per cent) and Sobha (down 2.09 per cent) also suffered significant losses. Indian equity
benchmarks extended losses to the second session on Monday due to losses in bank, FMCG, financial, telecom and capital goods stocks even as
global cues were mostly positive. The BSE Sensex took a downward plunge of 215 points, or 0.61 per cent, to settle at 35,012, while the
Nifty index tanked 68 points, or 0.63 per cent, to finish Monday's session at 10,629. In the Nifty index, 15 stocks managed to close the
day with gains, while 35 remained in the negative zone. The Sensex saw 7 stocks advancing, while 24 declining at the end of Monday's
trade. HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel and Adani Ports remained the top losers in the Sensex index.
