Stock market update: Oil gas stocks rise, but HPCL, GAIL, IOC damp squib

NEW DELHI: Shares of most oil marketing firms were trading up during afternoon trade on Wednesday, keeping the sectoral index up. However,
losses in HPCL (down 1.39 per cent), GAIL (India) (down 0.96 per cent) and Indian Oil Corporation (down 0.49 per cent) were keeping the
ascend restricted. The BSE Oil Gas index was trading 0.10 per cent up at 14,365 around 01:50 pm. Shares of Oil India (up 1.51 per cent),
Castrol India (up 1.49 per cent) and Petronet LNG (up 1.06 per cent) were the top gainers in the oil gas index. Indraprastha Gas (up 0.69
per cent), Reliance Industries (up 0.50 per cent), BPCL (up 0.39 per cent) and ONGC (up 0.29 per cent) were also in the green zone. Equity
markets were up ahead of the RBI policy outcome scheduled for later in the day. Benchmark BSE Sensex was up 217 points at 35,120, while the
NSE Nifty50 index was up 69 points at 10,662
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 41 were trading in the green, while 9 were in the red
The Sensex kitty had 26 stocks advancing and 5 declining. Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors and Sun Pharma were leading the pack of Sensex
gainers.
