Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma invest in Prem Watsa backed Digit Insurance

Mumbai: Star couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have invested a combined Rs 2.2 crore in Canadian billionaire Prem Watsa backed insurance
startup Digit, investment filing sourced from business intelligence platform paper.vc showed. The investments by the star duo came as part
of $84 million fund raising round concluded by Digit earlier this year which valued the three year old start up at $870 million
While the captain of Indian cricket team Virat Kohli has invested Rs.1.73 crore, popular bollywood actress Anushka Sharma has put Rs.43
lakh in the company, the filing showed

The duo now hold 0.25 percent of the shares in the company. A mail written to the company late Tuesday didn't ellicit a response while a
company spokesperson refused to comment on the matter

second fund raising round since inception
The equity capital was largely used by the company to meet Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority's (IRDAI) guidelines on regulatory
capital and foreign exposure, founder and chairman Kamesh Goyal had told ET earlier. Digit is one of the faster growing general insurers in
the country posting a premium income of $172 million in FY19 as per IRDAI data
Goyal said that it expects to nearly double its business to $325 million in the ongoing fiscal year.
