NEW DELHI: Falling over 1 per cent, the smallcap index was underperforming benchmark Sensex during Thursday's trade.
Around 12:10 pm, the
BSE Smallcap index was 1.13 per cent down at 15790, while the BSE Sensex was 0.34 per cent down at 35,096
The NSE Nifty50 was 0.47 per cent down at 10,621.
Shares of Gammon Infrastructure Projects (down 10.14 per cent), Leel Electricals (down
9.97 per cent), Fedders Electric and Engineering (down 9.97 per cent), TPL Plastech (down 9.60 per cent) and Kitex Garments (down 7.85 per
cent) were among the top losers in the smallcap index.
On the other hand, New Delhi Television (up 20 per cent), Steel Exchange India (up
9.78 per cent), GPT Infraprojects (up 9.18 per cent), CG Power and Industrial Solutions (up 9.17 per cent) and Shree Rama Newsprint (up 8.91
per cent) were among the top gainers.
Equity markets were under pressure amid weak global cues.
Macro indicators such as rising crude oil
prices and weakening rupee too hit market sentiment
Moreover, investors were on the sidelines on the last of June series of future and option contracts.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty
index, 16 were trading in the green, while 34 were in the red
In the Sensex index, 9 stocks were advancing, while 22 were declining.
