India's coronavirus tally crosses 54-lakh mark with spike of 92,605 new cases

Total coronavirus cases in India topped 54 lakh with a single-day spike of 92,605 new infections in the last 24 hours.According to the data
released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Sunday morning, India recorded 1,133 death, pushing the toll to 86,752.As on Sunday,
the total positive cases tally in India surged to 54,00,620, while the total active cases stood at 10,10,824
So far, 43,03,044 patients have been cured/discharged/migrated.On Saturday, Delhi reported 4,071 new coronavirus cases, 38 deaths in the
last 24 hours, taking the total cases to 2,42,899
The death toll in the national capital reached 4,945
According to government data, the number of active Covid-19 cases in Delhi increased by around 190 per cent in a month with 84,087 people
contracting the disease during the period.Odisha's Covid-19 tally rose to 1,75,550 on Saturday as 4,209 more people tested positive for the
infection, while nine fresh fatalities pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 691, a health department official said.West Bengal
reported 56 more Covid-19 fatalities on Saturday, pushing the death toll to 4,298, a bulletin issued by the health department said
The state also registered 3,188 fresh coronavirus cases, which took the tally to 2,21,960, it said."In a landmark global achievement", India
has become the top country, overtaking the US, to record maximum global coronavirus recoveries
A press release issued by the PIB on Saturday read: "In a landmark global achievement, India has overtaken the USA and become the top
country in terms of global Covid-19 recoveries."According to the government's data, India now accounts for close to 19 per cent of the total
global recoveries
Of the new recovered cases, about 60 per cent are being reported from five states -- Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and
Uttar Pradesh.
