Telangana records a dip in overall crime rate

Mahendar Reddy said on Wednesday that there was a decrease of 6 per cent in crime overall in the state.The number of murders fell by 8.59
per cent, property crime 21 per cent, dacoities 28 per cent, robberies 33 per cent and burglaries 17 per cent, ordinary thefts 22 per cent

The conviction rate had increased remarkably at 48.5 per cent compared to 29.4 per cent last year.The police secured four death penalties in
crucial cases in 2020 as a result of quality investigation and witness protection mechanisms, Mahendar Reddy said
The state police have registered 35,000 cases and filed chargesheets in the last one year.Crimes against women have reduced by 1.92 per cent
while white collar offences by 42 per cent
Road accidents reduced by about 14 per cent while deaths due to road accidents came down by nine per cent and injuries by 17 per cent,"
