Covid vax: Telangana hopes dim on international tenders

INSUBCONTINENT EXCLUSIVE:
HYDERABAD: The hopes of the Telangana state government to obtain Covid-19 vaccines through international tenders took a struck after the
manufacturers notified a few states such as Delhi and Punjab that they would not provide vaccines directly to the states but would deal with
the Centre. These states had invited international tenders much before the TS government did.It might be mentioned that the state government
on Might 19 welcomed international tenders to procure one crore vaccines
As many as nine states had actually done so including Andhra Pradesh up until now but none received a favorable reaction from producers
The TS government had set a June 4 due date for makers for submission of bids to supply vaccines
Official sources said there was no response from producers so far. While the state government was still confident of getting a favorable
action from the makers, the interaction sent by them to Delhi and Punjab over the past two days came as a shocker. As per state federal
government tender conditions, the bidders are invited to participate in a pre-bid conference on May 26 by means of Google meet
Bidders can quote their offers to supply the vaccine in part too, supplied that regular monthly supply shall not be less than 15 lakh
dosages
An overall supply of one crore dosages shall be finished within six months of issuance of Letter of Intent (LoI)
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday stated the vaccine producers Pfizer and Moderna had interacted to them that they would not
sell vaccines to states, however will deal only with the federal government of India
Punjab federal government too on Sunday announced that Moderna declined their request for vaccines stating it did not supply straight to
states. The task force on Covid vaccines headed by IT minister K.T
Rama Rao is carefully watching the developments in these states prior to taking a choice on modifying tender guidelines to attract makers
and also to negotiate with global makers straight
