Only one Nifty company may report loss in Q1; any guesses

INSUBCONTINENT EXCLUSIVE:
A low base effect may help Nifty companies to report multi-quarter high earnings growth for June quarter. While nine Nifty companies,
including three from the banking sector, are expected to report a drop in bottom line on a year-on-year basis, Bharti Airtel may be the only
one to post a loss. The telecom sector has been witnessing continued pricing pressure, mainly due to downgrading to bundled packs, which
will impact the average revenue per user (Arpu). Brokerage Motilal Oswal believes net profit of the Nifty50 pack is likely to increase 26
per cent YoY, the highest since Q4 of FY12, whereas Bharti Airtel may report a net loss of Rs 110 crore for the quarter
telecom firms are likely to report a decline in sales
sector had fuelled the exit of tenancies, leading to higher tenancy cost per operator
This, coupled with installation of cell sites on fresh towers (non-loading) and soaring diesel prices, is expected to increase the QoQ
with 14.50 per cent and 10 per cent YoY drop in Editda and net sales. Kotak Institutional Equities projected a net loss of Rs 448.40 crore
growth
For India wireless, we expect an 8 per cent QoQ dip in Arpu to Rs 107 and an 8.5 per cent QoQ and 39 per cent YoY decline in Ebitda at Rs
for March quarter
The figure came as a surprise for markets, as brokerages had predicted a consolidated net loss of up to Rs 380 crore. According to JM
Financial, Nifty50 (ex-ADSEZ) EPS is likely to grow 18.5 per cent YoY aided by strong growth in consumer discretionary and materials, while
telecom is expected to remain a laggard. Auto, metals, IT and capital goods sectors are expected to report strong YoY earnings growth for
the quarter ended June 2018. ICICIdirect.com predicted a net loss of Rs 309.10 crore for Bharti Airtel
about 8 per cent QoQ decline in monthly Arpu at Rs 106
We expect 1.3 per cent QoQ decline in India mobility revenues at Rs 10,214 crore
