The Cabinet of Ministers has granted the approval to revise the tariffs for water and sewerage, the Department of Government Information
says.Reportedly, the tariff revision is slated to be based on the cost.The government says it identified the need to increase the water and
sewerage tariffs in order to ensure an uninterrupted supply of water supply and the financial stability of the National Water Supply -
Drainage Board (NWSDB).Accordingly, the proposal presented by Water Supply Minister Keheliya Rambukwella to amend the water and sewerage
tariffs to cover the recurrent expenses and debt servicing liabilities of the NWSDB was green-lighted by the Cabinet of Ministers.
