The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has actually notified the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) that power cuts will need to
be enforced even during the 2022 G.C.E Advanced Level Examination, arranged to begin on Monday (23 Jan.)
This declaration was made in response to PUCSLs announcement earlier today (21 Jan.), in which they ensured that no power interruptions will
be enforced after 07:00 p.m
throughout the period in which the 2022 G.C.E Advanced Level Examination is set up to take place.Accordingly, CEB noted that such a relief
can not be provided in the middle of the ongoing crisis, owing to the high costs sustained for the generation of electrical power, and the
lack of funds in this regard.CEB informed PUCSL, however, that in case the essential funds are provided, they may be able to refrain from
imposing power disturbances throughout the exam.Nevertheless, PUCSL is yet to react to this notice, CEB stated.Earlier today, PUCSL revealed
their choice to refrain from enforcing power cuts after 07:00 p.m
during the period in which the examination is due to be held.The choice was taken following a demand made by the Department of Examinations,
PUCSL Chairman Janaka Ratnayaka explained, adding that the choice was likewise made in accordance with the requirements of the Ceylon
Advanced Level Examination is set up to be held from 23 January to17 February at 2,200 centres throughout the island.
