And in our film, the clarity of vision and unity was a lot more crucial since we were shooting a period film and we had to bring out realism
climax, when Udham Singh is shown looking for survivors at the Jallianwala Bagh after the shooting has stopped
Some people thought it was too long, some thought it had too much blood and some people even switched the television off, while some viewers
were able to experience exactly what Sardar Udham went through that night
It was one of the most challenging parts of the film and we began our schedule with that scene
Everyone had heard about the Jallianwala incident but they got to watch it live, in a way, through the film
We shot the sequence for over 20-25 days and what it did was that it set the groove for everyone
to my friend Irrfan Khan who was supposed to be part of Sardar Udham." The film was originally written keeping Irrfan in mind, but with his
passing away Vicky Kaushal was brought in.
