of Ordinance. The Delhi government will now challenge the Government of NCTD (Amendment) Act, 2023, passed by both Houses of Parliament. On
senior advocate A M Singhvi's request, CJI D Y Chandrachud-led bench asked SG Tushar Mehta whether the requested amendment could be allowed,
and the Centre said it has no objection to it
The Supreme Court has asked the Union government to file reply in four weeks. The ordinance passed by both Houses of Parliament on which the
President has given assent, gives the central government control over bureaucrats in the Delhi government.Prior to this, the challenge to
the Ordinance over services was referred to a five-judge constitution bench. The law takes away the control over services from the city
dispensation and set off a fresh tussle between the two power centres.
