Uzbekistan, Pakistan discuss Trans-Afghan railway project

Uzbekistan and Pakistan officials have met to discuss Termez-Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railroad construction project.The issue was
reviewed at a meeting between Uzbekistan&s Minister of Transport Ilkhom Mahkamov with Ambassador of Pakistan to Uzbekistan Ahmad Farooq,
Trend news agency reported.During the meeting, the sides discussed matters of cooperation and development between the two countries in the
field of transportation.Both parties noted the need to develop multimodal transportation through the territory of Afghanistan in order to
increase the volume of cargo transportation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.Construction of the railway is estimated to cost around $7
billion
