150 foreigners currently in prison in Afghanistan

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan&s Prison Administration Authority said Sunday in its annual report that currently about 23,000 people are
in prison in the country, of which 1,000 are women and 150 are foreigners.According to prison&s officials, the foreigners were in prison for
having committed various crimes.Officials said that work is being done to reopen Bagram prison but that a number of inmates have already
been transferred there.The officials said that in the past year, 3,243 prisoners were freed and 3,016 prisoners were transferred from the
provinces to Kabul, from Kabul to the provinces and between provinces.Also, the directorate has been coordinating with the Supreme Court to
determine the fate of 1,562 prisoners.Officials say that prison staff have received training and that no prisoners have been harassed or
tortured but have instead been provided with the opportunity to learn different professions and religious studies.The Prison Administration
Authority also stated that there are about 9,000 Afghans currently in prison in other countries
They said there are ongoing discussions to get them repatriated
