'Images from Russian airstrike that killed mom and three children in my home town are burned into my mind'

INSUBCONTINENT EXCLUSIVE:
Another September is almost over
Pre-2022, my Septembers were pretty much as I see them for people in Ireland now
kids going back to school, packing the morning buses with a combination of laughter and sleepy faces
The appearance of pumpkin lattes in coffee shops, as adults get ready to be cold and miserable for the next six months
Everyone talking about how quickly it gets dark at this time of year
Lots of complaining about real life reasserting itself after the summer break
Even the seagulls seem to be complaining (OK, there are not many seagulls in Lviv, my home town, but I&m sure the local birds are unhappy
about something)
That&s September for you.
