According to the District Police Office, 14-year-old Asha Kumari Sah from Narkatiya
in Paroha Municipality drowned in floodwaters while cutting grass.In another incident, Rajkaran Mukhiya, a 40-year-old from Ward No
4, Durga Bhagwati Rural Municipality, died, as informed by Ward Chairperson Ramanand Yadav. Meanwhile, in Ward No
2, Baudhi Mai Municipality, 14-year-old Rambabu Mahto died of electrocution after coming into contact with a hand pump handle while
attempting to drink water, police said.The floods have caused houses to collapse in various locations across Rautahat, leaving four people
injured
Two others were injured in Maulapur due to lightning strikes, according to SP Dilip Ghimire.However, floodwaters are now receding in the
district
Locals have reported that after the sluice gates of the Indian dam were opened today, the water level in Gaur and surrounding areas has
started to gradually decrease.
