Another group of Chinese nationals detained in Kandy

Sixteen Chinese nationals including a woman, who were staying under suspicious circumstances, were arrested at a hotel in Anniewatta,
Kandy.According to the police, the group was apprehended during a search operation conducted last evening (13), based on information
received by officers of the Kandy Police Station.Meanwhile, on October 12, 126 Chinese nationals, 2 Vietnamese nationals, and 130 foreign
nationals, including a Thai and a Filipino, were arrested at a hotel in the Nattarampotha area of Pallekele, based on information received
by officers of the Kandy Division Criminal Investigation Bureau.The police have stated that they are investigating whether the individuals
arrested in the Anniewatta area yesterday have any connection with those arrested in the Nattarampotha area.In another incident, 11 Chinese
men and 4 Chinese women, who were also staying under suspicious circumstances, were arrested last afternoon at an apartment complex in the
Ethul Kotte area, within the Welikada Police Division.The Police Media Division stated that further investigations into these incidents will
be conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
