[Russia] - Russian Police Arrest 2 Men Suspected in Assassination Attempt on Former Chechen Official

Cops in the Moscow regionarrested 2 males suspected of trying to assassinate a previous Chechen and Ingush official who has ties to Chechen
leader Ramzan Kadyrovs late father.Russian Interior Ministry spokesperson Irina Volk said those apprehended in the town of Odintsovo
included a supposed hitman and the individual who worked with him.Volk shared a video of masked representatives storming a house, making at
least one arrest and interrogating a man.The 2 guys were taken in for questioning about the Oct
10shooting and hospitalization of Sherip Alikhadzhiyev in the town of Lapino.Alikhadzhiyev, an ethnic Chechen, held federal government posts
in Russias North Caucasus republics of Chechnya and Ingushetia in the early 2000s
Russian mediadescribed Alikhadzhiyev, 58, as a close ally of former Chechen leader Akhmat Kadyrov, who was assassinated in 2004 after he
changed sides and became a pro-Russian politician.In 2007, Kadyrovs boy and successor Ramzan Kadyrovaccused Alikhadzhiyev of being believed
of an undefined crime while serving in the Ingush administration.Following his hospitalization previously this month, some Russian news
outlets reported that Alikhadzhiyev acts as an aide to State Duma legislator Vladimir Shamanov, who later seemed to deny the claims.The
state-run news company TASS, citing anonymous police sources, claimed Alikhadzhiyevs declared shooter was a previously convicted Ukrainian
resident andidentified the second suspect as Ingushetia native Bashir Omarkhodzhayev, who owns a just recently registered construction
business.Alikhadzhiyev was shot on the very same day as Kadyrov stated a blood feud versus two State Duma legislators and one senator
following a deadly shootout outside the Moscow headquarters of Russias biggest online seller Wildberries
It was not immediately clear whether Alikhadzhiyevs shooting and Kadyrovs remarks were connected.
