The Colombo District Court today provided a limiting order preventing the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) from submitting their National List
MP candidates without consisting of the name of Nizam Kariapper of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC)
After considering a plaint submitted by SLMC leader MP Rauff Hakeem, Colombo Additional District Judge Chamari Weerasuriya released this
order on the SJBs General Secretary, Ranjith Madduma Bandara.Petitioner Rauff Hakeem declares that the SLMC, led by him, supported SJBs
governmental prospect, Sajith Premadasa, throughout the 2024 Presidential Election.He also mentioned that throughout the 2024 General
Election, his celebration entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SJB relating to the contesting of the General Election, on
Appropriately, the plaint states that the SJB consented to appoint SLMCs General Secretary Nizam Kariapper as a National List MP.According
to the MoU, it was pointed out that regardless of the number of National List seats the SJB protected, it is obliged to offer among those
seats to the SLMC.Rauff Hakeem even more claims that the General Secretary of SJB has actually failed to send names for the remaining 4
National List seats and demands the court to rule that this remains in violation of the contract made with his party.
