Court grants bail to believe in ex-Minister Anura Yapa s scams case

The Colombo Magistrates Court has approved bail to a suspect arrested in connection with the case including previous Minister Anura
Priyadarshana Yapa.The suspect, a previous Sales Manager of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), was given bail following his court
appearance.On January 22, previous Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and a number of other suspects were apprehended by the Criminal
Investigation Department (CID) officers, on the charges of obtaining a sum of over Rs
6.1 million from the CPC under the guise of offering relief to individuals displaced by floods in Bingiriya and Narammala locations in 2014,
and rather utilizing the funds for governmental election marketing activities in 2015
Furthermore, another suspect was apprehended today (25) by the CID and was presented before the Colombo Magistrates Court.CID authorities
notified the court that 2 more suspects are anticipated to be detained in connection with this case.The newest suspect was produced under
the Offences Against Public Property Act, and the police asked for that he be remanded.After evaluating the realities provided, the court
approved bail, purchasing the suspects release on 2 sureties of Rs
500,000 each.
