The Secretary General of Parliament, Mrs
Kushani Rohanadeera, specified that an unique Party Leaders Meeting was held today (February 22) to talk about the demand made by Opposition
concerning increasing the representation of Opposition Members of Parliament in Parliamentary Committees.This conference, kept in Parliament
Chaired by the Speaker (Dr.) Jagath Wickramaratne, was also gone to by the Prime Minister Dr
Harini Amarasuriya.Expressing gratitude for the Speakers choice announced on February 19, the Leader of the House had officially informed
the Speaker in writing regarding the Governments stance on this matter, and the letter read out in throughout the meeting.Subsequently, the
Chief Opposition Whip repeated the request to increase Opposition representation in Parliamentary Committees, to which the Leader of your
house stated that the Governments position on this matter would be offered as soon as possible after due factor to consider.
