Market Now: Midcap index in sync with Sensex; Tata Chemicals up 5%

NEW DELHI: The BSE Midcap index was trading in sync with benchmark Sensex during afternoon trade on Monday. The index was 0.55 per cent up
at 17,010 around 01:05 pm (IST), while the BSE Sensex was 0.60 per cent up at 35,180
The NSE Nifty index was 0.54 per cent up at 10,750 around the same time. Shares of Tata Chemicals (up 4.89 per cent), Kansai Nerolac Paints
(up 3.18 per cent), Bajaj Holdings Investment (up 3.07 per cent), PNB Housing Finance (up 2.92 per cent), LT Finance Holdings (up 2.61 per
cent), Colgate-Palmolive (India) (up 2.52 per cent), The Ramco Cements (up 2.22 per cent), Berger Paints (India) (up 2.07 per cent), TI
Financial Holdings (up 2.06 per cent), Wockhardt (up 1.96 per cent), JSW Energy (up 1.91 per cent) and Oberoi Realty (up 1.85 per cent) were
among the top gainers in the midcap index. On the other hand, Vakrangee (down 4.99 per cent), Reliance Communications (down 4.09 per cent),
IDBI Bank (down 1.78 per cent), Crisil (down 1.75 per cent), Bharat Electronics (down 1.28 per cent), United Breweries (down 1.26 per cent),
Indraprastha Gas (down 1.11 per cent) and Shriram Transport Finance Company (down 1.08 per cent) were the top losers in the midcap
index. Equity benchmarks were in the green on across the board buying, while IT, bank and metal stocks leading. The NSE Nifty50 index was up
56 points at 10,748, while the BSE Sensex was 217 points up at 35,187
In the Sensex index, 27 stocks were trading up, while 4 stocks -- Axis Bank, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank and ONGC -- were down.
