Market Now: Midcaps underperform Sensex; Vakrangee plunges 5%

NEW DELHI: The BSE Midcap index was underperforming benchmark Sensex during Wednesday's trade. Around 11:10 am (IST), the BSE Midcap index
was 0.27 per cent down at 16,590, while the BSE Sensex was 0.20 per cent up at 35,288
The NSE Nifty50 was 0.12 per cent up at 10,731 around the same time
Vakrangee (down 4.97 per cent), Dalmia Bharat (down 2.50 per cent), GRUH Finance (down 2.18 per cent), Blue Dart Express (down 1.88 per
cent), IIFL Holdings (down 1.71 per cent), Godrej Agrovet (down 1.68 per cent), Cholamandalam Investment Finance Company (down 1.67 per
cent), Adani Enterprises (down 1.64 per cent) were the top losers in the midcap index
However, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (up 4.05 per cent), Larsen Toubro Infotech (up 3.34 per cent), Mphasis (up 3.22 per cent), PNB
Housing Finance (up 2.78 per cent), Au Small Finance Bank (up 2.40 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (up 2.39 per cent) and Havells India (up
2.07 per cent) were the top gainers among the midcap stocks
Equity benchmarks were flat on weak global cues after President Donald Trump pulled the US out of the landmark Iran nuclear deal, fanning
fears of an escalation in geopolitical tensions. Oil, bank, auto and FMCG stocks were under pressure
However, metal and IT stock were seeing some buying interest. State Bank of India, Mahindra Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki were the top losers
in the Sensex index.
