ANI | Updated: Jan 20, 2020 05:52 IST Hoshiarpur (Punjab) [India], Jan 20 (ANI): Punjab cabinet minister Sunder Sham Arora landed into a possible controversy after he purportedly made infants along with their parents wait for over two hours at a polio vaccination camp in Hoshiarpur for photo-op.
Arora was invited as Chief Guest at the camp organised on National Polio Day on Sunday.
As per the attendees, the minister was supposed to arrive at 8:00 am, however, he came after 10:00 am.
The parents of the infants claimed that they requested the organisers to let them go after polio vaccination to the kids but were asked to wait until the photo session with Arora is held.A woman, who was waiting with her child, told ANI, "It has been over an hour now.
The child has slept.
We have been asked to wait as the minister is yet to come.
It is being said that a photo session will be held with the minister and then only, we will be allowed to go."However, when asked about the allegation of being late for the polio drive, Arora claimed that he was told a different timing of the programme."I was told the timings are 9:30-10:00 am.
There was an incident in the city where I had to go for 10 minutes.
That's why I came late.
If I knew the program was at 8:00 am, I would have come at 8:00 am," he said.
