A 20-year-old Merchant Navy cadet Dhananjay Arora, who hails from Jhilmil area of Delhi, has disappeared from a ship near Mauritius under suspicious circumstances.
His family has not received any information of his whereabouts since the last six days.The cadet's family members have sought help from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and the Home Ministry.
However, Dhananjay's family has said they haven't received any help so far.
Unable to get help, the cadet's family has appealed to people to help find Dhananjay by sharing his photo on Facebook and WhatsApp.Dhananjay's family consists of his father Virendra Kumar Arora, mother and sister.
His father, who is a businessman, said Dhananjay had a nine-month contract with Elegant Marine Service Private Limited Company.
On November 22, 2019 he left for China with a crude oil tanker from the ship.
The contract was completed on August 18, 2020 but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the contract was extended for two months.The cadet's Virendra Kumar said that on September 13 at 4.30 pm, Dhananjay spoke to his mother and sister.
At that time, he was several kilometres away from Mauritius.
His father said Dhananjay seemed very upset while talking on the phone.
When his asked what was the problem, Dhananjay said he would call them at night and then tell them.Dhananjay had sent some photos of an officer to his family on WhatsApp.
He asked his family to keep the photos safe.
Dhananjay had earlier told them that he faced harassment by the officer.After a few hours of sending the photos, Dhananjay disappeared from the ship.
His companions looked for him on the whole ship at dinner time, but they were not able to find him.The same night, the ship's officers called his family informing that Dhananjay was not on the ship.
Both his phones were found in his cabin.
No one knows where Dhananjay went from the ship.
The family has alleged that the officer whose photo Dhananjay sent them has done something to him.To find out the truth, his family sent the photos that Dhananjay sent them to officials of the company.
It has been alleged that the company officials are not helping the family in any way.
The family also spoke to the captain of the ship, but he said he is aware of any such photo.Meanwhile, a search operation has been launched in the sea to find the missing cadet.
