RAJKOT: The spate of young people dying of sudden heart attacks continued with a 28-year-old student of a private college in Rajkot who died of cardiac arrest in the classroom.
The deceased, Kalpesh Prajapati was a final-year student of B Tech in architecture at Indubhai Parekh School of Architecture located on Kalavad Road.Prajapati had completed a three-year diploma course in the same college and then taken admission to the degree course.
He was preparing for the exam scheduled for next month.
He was a native of Bajipura village in south Gujarat's Tapi district.College principal Devang Parekh told reporters, "Prajapati called up his friend while leaving the classroom at around 5:30pm on Tuesday saying he was having chest pain and feeling uncomfortable.
Before his friend could reach the campus, he collapsed in the classroom.
We rushed him to a private hospital where he died." The college informed Prajapati's family members who arrived in Rajkot at night.
According to the police, the deceased's father Bipin runs a grocery store in Tapi district and had sent his son to study engineering.
He was the elder of two siblings.
They were hopeful that he would pass with good marks and get a job.Prajapati had taken three doses of the Covid-19 vaccine including the booster dose.
On Monday, a 17-year-old Class 12 girl died of cardiac arrest in Navsari's AB School on Monday.
Tanisha Gandhi, who lost her mother to Covid-19 two years ago, was climbing the stairs with her friends when she started feeling breathless and suffered a heart attack.
Earlier this month, Dr Gaurav Gandhi, a renowned heart specialist in Jamnagar, died in his sleep after suffering a massive cardiac arrest.
Since March, many such incidents have been reported in Saurashtra.
A 31-year-old gram sevak died while practicing for a cricket match near Halvad town of Morbi district.
A day before, Ashok Kanjariya, a manager with a private firm, died of heart attack while sitting on his bike in Halvad taluka.
