BIJNOR: Twenty-four hours after a 34-year-old married woman filed an FIR claiming that 5-6 men barged into her house, gangraped her and then looted valuables worth Rs 10 lakh, Bijnorpolice cracked the case and arrested her 32-year-old lover on Thursday for staging the crime.
Police said the woman and her lover fabricated the crime to pay off his debts.According to police, on Wednesday, the accused woman and her husband filed a complaint of gangrape and robbery against six unidentified men.
The woman's husband had claimed that five to six unidentified men barged into his house through the roof on Tuesday evening, sedated his wife and gangraped her.
They also burned her using cigarette butts, he mentioned in the police complaint.
Based on this complaint, police registered a case later that day against six unidentified persons under sections 328 (causing hurt using poison), 395 (punishment for dacoity), 376d (gangrape), and 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement) of the IPC.Bijnor superintendent of police (SP) Neeraj Kumar Jadaun said, "The woman came under police radar during questioning.
In her statement, she said that six men barged into the house around 7 pm on Tuesday.
It was not possible as the area remains crowded in the evening hours.
