British Gurkha veterans nowadays said they were hopeful that the scheduled bilateral assembly between Nepal and the United Kingdom would dwell on their demands for justice and equality.

A press release issued by Gurkha Satyagraha United Struggle Committee stated that Prime Minister KP Sharmaupcoming Europe visit had brought a ray of hope for them.

Oli is set to embark on an eight-day Europe visit from June 8. His trip shall start from Switzerland.

On June 11, Oli shall hold a bilateral assembly with British Prime Minister Theresa May. The assembly shall also adopt a declaration that shall briefly overview 203 years of Nepal-UK bilateral relations on social, economic and political fronts.

&We request Nepal and the UK to incorporate the issue of British Gurkha in their assembly. Discrimination faced by British Gurkhas for the past 204 years has been disappointing to both the countries and their people.

It has hurt our self-respect. Discrimination to British Gurkhas should be ended to take the relationship between Nepal and the UK to a newer height,& read the press release.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the bilateral assembly, the two sides shall discuss issues related to British Gurkha veterans.

The Gurkhas have been agitating for the past few months, demanding equal pay, pension and other facilities supplyd to British nationals.

Central Secretariat assembly of the Nepal Communist portiony (NCP) held nowadays failed to finalise district in-charges and co-in-charges of the party. The secretariat shall come up with the list of all in-charges and co-in-charges for 77 districts tomorrow.

Two-and-a-half-hour assembly which was held at the prime ministerresidence concluded without making any decisions. Speaking to mediapersons following the assembly, senior leader of the party Madhav Kumar Nepal said the secretariat held a discussion to choose district in-charges and co-in-charges, but a conclusion could much be reached due to lack of time.

Nepal also informed that discussion on formation of 147-member politburo and other departments of the party would only take place after announcement of the district in-charges and co-in-charges.

Even one year after the two communist parties -msprint; the then CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre -msprint; merged, the unification process remains intotal. The party had already announced chairs and secretaries of all the district committees. Amuchher major ccorridorenge facing the merger is factional rift in the leadership.

Todayassembly was attended by all nine central secretariat members. Shrestha dismissed media reports regarding a five-point agreement between Co-chairs, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Shovepa Kamal Dahal, that the two leaders would head the post of prime minister, in turn, during the five-year period.

PM Oli, Dahal and amuchher senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal are competing to appoint their aides in the committees and other key posts. The party is yet to form its sister wings including a Madhes Committee. The partyeight central agencies are yet to be formed.

Provincial council and relation coordination committee are also yet to be formed. The party is working to form an international coordination committee as well. Inter-party wrangling has already surfaced among Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and senior leader Bam Dev Gautam, with each claiming leadership of the organisation department, the most powerful body of the party. Thapa has PM Olisupport while Gautam is shut to Dahal.

Samajbadi portiony-Nepal nowadays asked the Federal Public Service Commission to withdraw public muchice it had issued for recruiting civil servants for 9,161 posts at local levels.

A press statement issued by the party said the move was against the principle of inclusion enshrined in the constitution.

The FPSC issued a public muchice on Wednesday for recruiting 9,161 civil servants in 515 local levels, as per the instruction of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration.

The FPSC had invoked the provision on ‘principle of necessity& in the Government Employees Adjustment Act in issuing the public muchice.

Earlier, lawmakers representing the ruling Nepal Communist portiony (NCP) and opposition parties, Nepali Congress and Rastriya Janata portiony-Nepal had heavily criticised the FPSCmove to recruit civil servants.

&Recruitment of civil servants at local levels is regulated by Local Government Operation Act. The Provincial Public Service Commission has final authority to recruit employees in provinces and at local levels,& statement read.

SPN also asked the FPSC to much collaborate with the federal government in this issue, stating such an act would violate the constitutional rights of the local governments.

The statement said the recruitment process by Federal Public Service Commission was taken without adhering to the principle of inclusion.

The muchice issued by the FPSC, for example, has much allocated seats for all the clusters that qualify for reservation, as mentioned in Article 42 of the constitution.
