Kathmandu, July 12The Commission for the Investigation of the Abuse of Authority today filed corruption case against seven persons, including four police personnel, for presenting fake evidence to secure acquittal of a person who was involved in a road accident that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.According to the CIAA, vehicle driven by Bodhraj Pandey had hit a motorbike resulting in the death of its rider, Nandakali Sharma.
Sharma died while undergoing treatment at a hospital.The CIAA indicted four police personnel: Inspector Lok Bahadur GC, SI Damodar Bhattarai, ASI Deb Bahadur Thapa and Havildar Bal Bahadur Oli.According to a press release issued by the CIAA, GC, who is the inspector of Area Police Office, Gaindakot, ordered his staff to indict Kishuna Mahato, a servant of Bodhraj Pandey in the accident, to secure Pandey acquittal.According to the CIAA, GC ordered investigating police officers to mention Mahato as the driver of the vehicle that hit the motorcycle and the investigating officers followed his order.
The CIAA said Sahlik Ram Pandey acted as an accomplice in the case.The CIAA also said the police kept Mahato under police custody without the permission of the court and thus his detention was illegal.
The CIAA said the police officers prepared fake documents to acquit the real driver of the vehicle involved in the accident.
The CIAA said the night when the accident occurred, Pandey was kept in the Area police Office following his health check up and in his police statement recorded that night, Pandey had admitted that his vehicle was involved in the accident.The CIAA filed charge sheet against police officers under Section 19 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act-2002.The anti-graft body filed corruption case against Pandey, Shalikram and Mahato, under Section 19 (2) of the act.The post CIAA files corruption case against seven persons, including four police officers appeared first on The Himalayan Times.
