LAHORE: An accountability court on Monday extended n the physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aleem Khan till March 5.Aleem Khan is in custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was arrested on February 6 for owning assets beyond known sources of income and offshore companies.
NAB had summoned the PTI leader in an ongoing probe against him and taken him into custody when he seemed at the accountability watchdog office in Lahore.Following his arrest, NAB had issued a statement stating his arrest was made in light of the Panama scandal investigation.A NAB spokesman said that Aleem misused his authority as a lawmaker for Parkview Housing Society, and also has assets beyond his means in Pakistan and abroad.The accountability bureau spokesperson said Aleem failed to supply a satisfactory response when asked about the acquisition of this land.Soon after his arrest, Khan resigned from the post of Punjab local government minister and sent his resignation to the provincial chief minister.TheIndianSubcontinent has not verified the content of the source.
