President in Tajikistan to participate in CICA conference

President Maithripala Sirisena left for Tajikistan yesterday morning (June 13) to participate in the 5th conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) to be held in Dushanbe city, Tajikistan from June 14 to 15. President Sirisena will deliver a special lecture at the heads of state conference held on June 15.

Sri Lanka will rise as a united, strong nation

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya meeting with Ambassadors of 17 Islamic countries has assured that the island nation will combat extremism and emerge as a untied nation."Just as Sri Lanka neutralized terrorism and ensured security in a short time, the country will shun extremism and emerge as a strong unified nation," the Speaker told the concerned envoys who met the Speaker on Tuesday at the parliamentary complex.

Speaker Jayasuriya told the ambassadors that Parliament Oversight Committees in coordination with relevant ministries are formulating laws to prevent terrorism and the extremism that nourishes the terrorist activities. "I believe that will build foundation to live as a unified Sri Lanka nation in one country under one law," the Speaker said.
