Attorney General Dappula de Livera PC emphasized the necessity of enforcing strict sentencing regime in respect of serious crimes in the country.
The Attorney General made these remarks while speaking at the ceremonial sitting held at the Supreme Court on Wednesday (15) to welcome former Attorney General Jayantha Jayasuriya as the country 47th Chief Justice.
The Attorney General stated that Ad-hoc sentencing policies have not addressed punishment sufficiently and adequately for serious crimes.
