Sri Lanka will be able to witness a partial lunar eclipse shortly after midnight on today, which is full moon Poya day.
Coincidentally, the date also marks the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.The lunar eclipse will also be visible in Australia, Africa, South America, most of Europe and Asia.
It will not be visible in North America except in the southern and eastern part of the continent.
This will be the last lunar eclipse for 2019 and the next lunar eclipse of this nature will take place on May 26 next year, the Colombo Univesity Astronomy and Space Science Unit Director Chandana Jayaratne said.
