NEW DELHI: Auto stocks Ashok Leyland (up 1.42 per cent), Motherson Sumi Systems (up 1.36 per cent), Tata Motors (up 1.05 per cent) and Mahindra Mahindra (up 1 per cent) were trading up during afternoon trade on Wednesday, keeping the sectoral index in the green.
The Nifty Auto index was trading 0.23 per cent up at 11,212 around 01:30 pm.
Shares of Apollo Tyres (up 0.89 per cent), Bharat Forge (up 0.80 per cent), TVS Motor Company (up 0.62 per cent), MRF (up 0.40 per cent) and Eicher Motors (up 0.32 per cent) were also trading in the positive zone.
However, shares of Hero MotoCorp tanked over 2 per cent.Bosch (down 1.31 per cent), Bajaj Auto (down 0.32 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India (down 0.26 per cent) and Exide Industries (down 0.12 per cent) were also in the red.
Markets pared losses as a fresh spell of buying emerged in auto, FMCG, IT, pharma and consumer durable stocks.Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 25 points at 10,777, while the BSE Sensex was 47 points down at 35,497.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.
Hindustan Unilever, Wipro and YES Bank were among the top gainers in the Nifty index, while Cipla, UltraTech Cement and GAIL were among the top losers.
