NEW DELHI: The BSE Midcap index was trading 0.32 per cent up at 16,058 around 11:10 am on Tuesday, slightly behind benchmark Sensex that was 0.46 per cent up at 35,646.The Nifty50 was 0.41 per cent up at 10,831 around that time.Shares of Vakrangee (up 4.93 per cent), Ajanta Pharma (up 3.07 per cent), Max Financial Services (up 3.05 per cent), Nalco (up 2.46 per cent) and Divi's Laboratories (up 2.37 per cent) were the top gainers in the midcap index.On the other hand, Reliance Communications (down 2.56 per cent), Adani Power (down 2.56 per cent), Reliance Infrastructure (down 1.58 per cent), Indraprastha Gas (down 1.39 per cent) and Reliance Power (down 1.39 per cent) were the top losers in the index around the same time.
Equity benchmarks were treading higher as investors looked forward to release of key macroeconomic data due today amid a firming trend in Asia.Buying in IT, pharma, financial, bank and auto stocks ahead of IIP data for April and CPI inflation for May, to be released after market closing today, lifted stocks higher.In the Sensex index, 25 stocks were up, while 6 were down.Dr.
