NEW DELHI: Shares of Teamlease Services (up 9.04 percent), AstraZeneca Pharma India (up 8.46 percent) and Shreyas Shipping Logistics (up 8.24 percent) surged over 8 percent on NSE on Monday even as market sentiment stayed lacklustre.Stocks such as Jaiprakash Associates (up 5.88 per cent), GHCL (up 5.43 percent), HPCL (up 4.78 per cent) and Gujarat Ambuja Exports (up 4.73 per cent) climbed to 5 per cent.Headline indices Nifty and Sensex ended the day in the unfavorable area after a choppy trade owing to losses in a bulk of sectors, led by metals, bank, IT, capital products, consumer durables and telecom.
Gains in oil and vehicle stocks kept the fall restricted.The BSE Sensex fell for 74 points, or 0.21 per cent, settling at 35,548, while the Nifty ended up Mondays session at 10,800, down by 18 points or 0.17 per cent.Overall, 20 stocks stayed in the green in the Nifty pack, compared with 30 stocks that went home with losses.Sensex saw 11 stocks advancing and 20 decreasing at the end of todays trade.Among the sectors, Nifty Auto and personal bank index closed the day in the green, while Nifty Pharma settled nearly flat.
All other indices closed the day at a loss, with Nifty Metal as the top loser, falling 1.74 per cent.HPCL, ICICI Bank, Indian Oil Corporation, Dr.
Reddys Laboratories, BPCL, Tata Motors and Eicher Motors stood as the leading gainers in the Nifty index on Monday.
