NEW DELHI: In line with the midcaps, smallcaps too were underperforming Sensex throughout the first half of Wednesdays session.Around 10:50 am, the BSE Smallcap index was 0.83 percent down at 16,161, while the BSE Sensex was almost flat at 35,485.
The NSE Nifty50 was 0.20 percent down at 10,747.
Fedders Electric and Engineering (down 20 per cent), Pasupati Acrylon (down 9.93 percent), AXISCADES Engineering Technologies (down 9.51 per cent), Leel Electricals (down 8.38 percent) and MT Educare (down 7.08 per cent) were among the top losers in the smallcap index.
On the other hand, shares of New Delhi Television (up 20 percent), Steel Exchange India (up 9.85 per cent), Sri Adhikari Brothers Television Network (up 8.50 percent), EID Parry (India) (up 8.24 percent) and SITI Networks (up 5.49 percent) were amongst the leading gainers in the index.
Market sentiment was cautious in the backdrop of weak international hints, struck by lingering concerns of a trade war between the US and worlds other economies.Investors were restricting their bets ahead of the expiration of June series of future and choice contracts.Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 were selling the green, while 35 remained in the red.
In the Sensex kitty, 11 stocks were advancing, while 20 were declining in trade.
ONGC, ICICI Bank and NTPC were among the leading losers in the Sensex index.
