US President Joe Biden awarded Bono the US Presidential Medal of Freedom — the highest civilian honour in the USA. President Biden also gave the honour to another 18 people, including Hillary Clinton.

Jimmy Carter's long public goodbye began on Saturday in south Georgia, where the 39th US president's life began more than 100 years ago.

Former US president Jimmy Carter, who died last Sunday aged 100, had a challenging time in the White House where he served a four-year term at the end of the 1970s and wasn&t re-elected. However, his work afterwards at resolving conflicts around the world won him the Nobel Peace Prize.

An Israeli military strike killed 12 people in a house in Gaza City early on Saturday, bringing the death toll from strikes across Gaza to 62 over the last day, Palestinian medics said, as mediators launched a new ceasefire push in Qatar.
