The Russian Defense Ministry said Monday it is performing strikes in locations of northeastern Ukraine that Kyivs forces regained in recent days in a shock counteroffensive.
Ukraine over the weekend retook nearly all of the Kharkiv region, including the strategic cities of Izyum and Kupiansk, ending months of Russian profession and marking among the greatest obstacles suffered by Russian forces in their almost seven-month invasion.
Missile strikes near Kupiansk and Izyum hit workers and devices of the Ukrainian nationalist formation Kraken, the 113th Territorial Defense Brigade and the 93rd mechanized brigade, Defense Ministry spokesperson Igor Konashenkov said in Mondays everyday rundown.
There are opponent losses-- as much as 250 soldiers and more than 20 pieces of equipment, Konashenkov stated in the briefing.Separately on Monday, the Kremlin dismissed negotiations following Ukraines huge advance and stated its special military operation continues and will continue until the goals that were initially set are achieved.
The Defense Ministrys statement of vindictive strikes follows an alleged Russian strike on a thermal power station in Kharkiv that triggered widespread blackouts across the area Sunday night.
Kyiv has implicated Russia of deliberately targeting civilian facilities.
