A fine of over Rs.
110 million has been imposed on the Indian national who was recently arrested for attempting to smuggle gold into Sri Lanka.Accordingly, a fine of Rs.
110,800,000 was imposed by the Sri Lanka Customs.The woman was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in the early hours of Friday (22 Dec.), on charges of trying to smuggle a consignment of gold valued at over Rs.
120 million. The gold, weighing at 5.5 kilograms, was valued at over Rs.
120 million, Sri Lanka Customs Media Spokesman Seevali Arukgoda reported.Speaking further in this regard, Arukgoda disclosed that the female suspect had immediately paid the relevant fine to Sri Lanka Customs.
