TEHRAN – A system for the measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) for pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions will be established at the Department of Environment (DOE), ISNA reported on Monday.“This system helps the government to measure economic, social, and environmental indicators and provides the opportunity to objectively assess progress in achieving national development goals as well as the effectiveness of policies, programs, and regulations in the field of local pollutants, greenhouse gases and climate change.It will be used as a prerequisite for achieving a green economy and market-oriented development.Greenhouse gas emissions inventories, energy and emissions reduction measures, climate change adaptation, support for financial mechanisms, capacity building, and training courses, technology transfer, and the national air pollution emissions index are among the activities of the system,” Golnaz Pourabedin, head of the energy department of the national center for climate change at the DOE, explained.Life-threatening environmental factorAir pollution is one of the life-threatening environmental factors.
